Samsung sold its printer division to HP in late 2017. Samsung no longer makes new printer models, and all driver, firmware, and warranty support for existing Samsung printers transferred to HP. If you own a Samsung Xpress, ML, CLP, or CLX printer, you are dealing with an HP-supported product now, even though it still carries the Samsung name on the case.
Samsung product lines
Xpress (M series)
Compact mono laser printers and multifunctions. The M2020W and M2070 are the most common Xpress models still in the field. Drivers from HP support.
ML
Older mono laser line, replaced by Xpress. ML-2160 and ML-2165W are still in active home use. HP still hosts the drivers.
CLP and CLX
Colour laser single-function (CLP) and multifunction (CLX). CLP-415NW and CLX-3305 series get the most support traffic. Toner cartridges are still available from third parties.
ProXpress
Higher-volume business mono and colour lasers. Aimed at office workgroups. Drivers from HP.
Common Samsung printer problems
Where do I get Samsung printer drivers now?
Go to support.hp.com and search by Samsung model number. HP took over Samsung driver hosting in 2018. The driver package is unchanged from what Samsung shipped, just hosted on HP infrastructure. If you go to samsung.com you will be redirected to the HP page.
Windows 11 does not recognise my Samsung printer
Windows 11 dropped support for some older universal print drivers. Reinstall the Samsung Easy Printer Manager package from the HP support page for your model. On Xpress models this also re-registers the printer in Windows so it appears as a printer rather than just a generic USB device.
WPS pin button not working
On most Samsung Xpress models the WPS pin is generated by the printer rather than entered from the router. Print the configuration page (hold the WPS button for two seconds on M-series models) and the WPS pin is listed under Network Information. Enter that pin in your router's WPS pin setup screen, not the other way around.
Toner cartridge availability
OEM Samsung toner is increasingly rare since Samsung exited the market. HP has discontinued production on most older cartridges. Third-party compatible cartridges are widely available for the popular models (MLT-D101S, MLT-D111S, MLT-D116L) and tend to work fine. For colour, the CLT-K406S and similar series are still in stock from compatible vendors.
Should I replace my Samsung printer?
If it still works on your current OS and you can get toner, no. Samsung lasers from the 2014 to 2017 era were genuinely well-built. The case for replacing is when Windows or macOS drops driver support, which happens roughly every 4 to 5 years now. At that point an HP LaserJet or Brother HL is the natural upgrade path.
Samsung drivers and downloads
All Samsung printer drivers are hosted at support.hp.com. Search by Samsung model number, the search resolves to HP-hosted Samsung driver packages. No charge, no account required. Avoid samsung.com for printers because it redirects to HP support anyway.
What to buy and what to skip
Do not buy new Samsung printers, because there are no new Samsung printers. If you are shopping for a replacement, look at HP LaserJet (the same engineering team that made the later Samsung lasers ended up at HP), Brother HL or MFC for mono laser, or Canon i-SENSYS for budget colour laser. The Samsung sub-$150 mono laser slot is now filled by the HP LaserJet M110we and the Brother HL-L2390DW.

Is Samsung still making printers?
No. Samsung sold its printer business to HP in 2017 and no new Samsung-branded printers have been released since. Existing models are supported by HP.
Will HP discontinue support for Samsung printers?
HP committed to multi-year driver support for the Samsung range and is still publishing macOS and Windows drivers as of 2025. There is no announced end-of-support date, but expect older models (ML series in particular) to drop off as operating system updates push past their driver compatibility.
Can I use HP toner in a Samsung printer?
No, despite the same parent company. The toner formulation and cartridge shape are not interchangeable. Use Samsung-spec cartridges, either OEM if you can still find them or third-party compatible MLT or CLT series for your model.
